Tutorial 1 “Polymers in Formulation
Introductory course on polymers and their use in formulation, specifically designed for applied chemists, formulators, master students, etc.
This tutorial combines both theoretical insights and industrial application examples.
Prerequisites: some basic knowledge in chemistry physical chemistry and/or formulation or colloid sciences.
Total duration: 8 to 10 hours in full or tailored to needs.

Content:

  • General features of polymers (constitution, chemistry and properties of synthetic and natural polymers)
  • Polymers in solutions (theory of polymer solutions, solubility parameters (Hildebrand, Hansen, Flory-Huggins, phase diagrams, gels)
  • Block copolymers, polymer surfactants
  • Hydrocolloids and colloidal stabilization
  • Rheology control, transient and permanent networks
  • Latex, polymer dispersions
  • Film formation
  • Case studies

Introductory course on microencapsulation technologies and industrial aspects of microencapsulation, specifically designed for applied chemists, formulators, master students, etc.
This tutorial combines both theoretical insights and industrial application examples.
Prerequisites: some basic knowledge in chemistry, physical chemistry and/or formulation or colloid sciences.
Total duration: 5 to 6 hours in full or tailored to needs.

  • Types of microcapsules and microencapsulation technologies, their advantages and limitations
  • Stability as key industrial aspect
